Why Girls on the Run Matters
At Floricity, we believe growth doesn’t just happen in gardens; it happens in people, too. That’s why we’re proud to support Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization helping girls build the confidence, strength, and resilience they need to thrive.
Girls on the Run empowers girls in grades 3 through 8 through a curriculum that blends physical activity with lessons on teamwork, emotional intelligence, and goal setting. Over the course of a season, participants learn to:
- Navigate friendships and peer pressure
- Build self-esteem and emotional awareness
- Set goals and celebrate progress
- Strengthen teamwork, empathy, and connection
The program concludes with a celebratory 5K, not about competition, but about accomplishment. For many girls, it’s their first experience realizing just how strong and capable they truly are.
The Confidence Gap
As girls enter middle school, research shows a clear and consistent decline in confidence and self-perception, even when their abilities remain the same or higher than boys’.
- Adolescent self-esteem is twice as likely to be lower among girls than boys.
- In U.S. engineering programs, women often earn grades equal to or higher than their male peers but report significantly less confidence in their ability.
- In college calculus, a common gateway to STEM, women are 1.5 times more likely than men to discontinue, largely because of lower confidence, not ability.
These gaps don’t begin in college, they begin much earlier, when girls start raising their hands less, second-guessing their ideas, or worrying about being “too much.” Programs like Girls on the Run help rewrite that story, providing a space where girls can move freely, express themselves, and build lasting confidence.
Beyond Running
Girls on the Run is about far more than crossing a finish line. The program helps girls develop lifelong skills: confidence, perseverance, empathy, and leadership. Each session turns movement into a meaningful tool for connection and self-discovery.
Through running, reflection, and teamwork, girls learn that strength and kindness can coexist, and that real growth happens one step at a time.
Keep Blooming, Keep Running
At Floricity, we believe that confidence and kindness bloom best together. Supporting organizations like Girls on the Run reflects our commitment to helping people feel seen, valued, and empowered to grow.
We’re inspired by the coaches, volunteers, and communities who help every girl reach the finish line and by the next generation of young women learning that their strength, voice, and confidence can change the world.
Here’s to the girls who run, the teams who support them, and the movement that keeps them growing, one stride, one smile, one finish line at a time.
